Seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter for a full-time, full-school-year contract located near Denver, CO. This is an onsite-only, itinerant role covering multiple school sites, supporting both Special Education (SPED) and General Education (Gen Ed) students with needs ranging from mild to severe. Your expertise will help ensure all students have equitable access to instruction and school activities.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Valid and current Colorado Department of Education (CDE) Authorization for educational interpreting (required for all interpreters in Cherry Creek and across the state)
- EIPA score of 3.5 or higher (must have passed for CDE Authorization)
- Previous experience interpreting for children or young adults in educational settings is highly valued
- Proficient in both American Sign Language (ASL) and English
- Comfortable working across multiple school locations
- Strong collaboration skills for working alongside teachers, staff, and families
- Professional, flexible, and able to support students with diverse needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate and effective sign language interpreting services for students, staff, and families across various educational settings
- Support students’ access to curriculum, instruction, and activities in both general and special education environments
- Serve as an itinerant interpreter, traveling between multiple school sites as assigned
- Adhere to all confidentiality standards and ethical practices in line with state and district guidelines
- Communicate and collaborate with teachers, SPED teams, and other school staff to support student success
