Requirements:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and other sign systems when needed
  • Appropriate state licensure and/or national certification (such as EIPA, RID, or NIC)
  • Experience working with school-aged children preferred
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and adaptability skills
  • Commitment to preserving confidentiality and supporting inclusive educational practices

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and school activities between Deaf/hard of hearing students and staff
  • Collaborate with teachers, speech-language pathologists, and educational teams
  • Adjust interpreting methods to match each student's needs and learning styles
  • Assist in fostering a positive, accessible, and supportive classroom environment
