Key Qualifications & Experience:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL), with formal training or certification as a Sign Language Interpreter
  • Experience interpreting in a school environment preferred
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to foster understanding between students, peers, and staff
  • Adaptable, dependable, and committed to upholding confidentiality and supporting inclusive education
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with educational teams, including teachers, therapists, and administrators

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide real-time interpretation between students using ASL and other members of the school community (including staff, peers, and families)
  • Assist in both classroom and extracurricular settings, ensuring students’ full participation
  • Support the academic and social development of Deaf and hard of hearing students by accurately conveying spoken information and signing responses
  • Adapt interpreting techniques to suit various age groups and learning needs
  • Maintain professionalism, impartiality, and ethics as outlined by interpreting standards in educational environments

This contract role is scheduled from August 19, 2026, continuing through early June 2027, with some flexibility on the end date depending on school assignment. You’ll collaborate with energetic staff in a supportive school network and help foster a welcoming, accessible learning environment.
