Qualifications:

  • National or state certification in Sign Language Interpretation (or equivalent credentials)
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English
  • Previous experience working in a school or similar educational setting is highly desirable
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
  • Compassionate, patient, and responsive to young learners

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one sign language interpretation services for an 8th-grade student throughout the school day
  • Facilitate clear and accurate communication between student, teachers, staff, and peers
  • Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and extracurricular activities as needed
  • Collaborate with school personnel to optimize the learning experience and adapt communication methods
  • Support the student’s academic and social development by encouraging participation and engagement
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation as required by the school
