Your expertise in American Sign Language will support students, staff, and families, making a real difference in classroom participation and student development.

Key Qualifications:

  • Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) with proven proficiency in both receptive and expressive interpretation
  • Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score as required by state guidelines or national certification (RID or equivalent)
  • Experience providing sign language interpretation in a K–12 school or educational environment is highly preferred
  • Ability to interpret in a variety of academic and extracurricular settings, including classrooms, assemblies, and meetings
  • Strong understanding of confidentiality and professional ethics related to interpreting
  • Adaptability, patience, and a commitment to inclusive education

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Interpret spoken language into sign language (and vice versa) to support effective communication for deaf and hard-of-hearing students
  • Assist teachers by translating lectures, instructions, and class discussions
  • Foster and maintain clear, respectful, and supportive communication among students, teachers, and staff
  • Prepare for interpreting assignments by reviewing lesson materials and collaborating with educational teams
  • Support students’ social interaction during both academic and non-academic activities
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation as required
