Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) / ASL Paraprofessional
Soliant is seeking dedicated and qualified Sign Language Interpreters (SLIs) and ASL Paraprofessionals for multiple openings supporting Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in a school setting. This position is in/near Durham, CA.
Position Details
- Full-Time
- Approximately 30 Hours per Week
- Onsite Position Only
- Immediate Openings Available
- Ongoing Need for the 2026-2027 School Year
- 5 Positions Available
Caseload Information
- Elementary and Intermediate School Settings
- Candidate preference for age group will be considered
- Facilitate communication between Deaf and Hard of Hearing students, their hearing peers, teachers, and school personnel
- Provide sign-to-voice and voice-to-sign interpretation
- Assist students with academic subjects including reading, writing, and math
- Support students during classroom, outdoor, and community-based activities
- Assist with vocational and independent living skills as needed
Responsibilities
- Provide accurate and effective interpretation services in educational settings
- Support student access to classroom instruction and school activities
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff
- Monitor and assist students throughout the school day
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality in accordance with district guidelines
Qualifications
- Certification through the National Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID), or EIPA score of 4.0 or higher, or ESSE-I/R or NAD/ACCI certification
- Previous school-based experience preferred
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- ASL Paraprofessional Opportunity
The district is also open to considering candidates with an EIPA score below 4.0. These individuals will be considered for ASL Paraprofessional positions and are encouraged to apply.
