Make a significant impact supporting young learners through your expertise in sign language interpretation. This full-time contract position centers on delivering high-quality interpretation services to students at the elementary level. You’ll work closely with educators and staff in a collaborative, onsite setting to foster an inclusive and accessible learning environment for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Starting as soon as possible, this role extends through May 2027, offering consistent hours Monday through Friday from 7:45 am to 3:15 pm. Your fluency and professionalism will help ensure students can fully participate in classroom instruction, activities, and daily school life.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with a demonstrated commitment to accurate, clear communication
• Valid EIPA score of 3.0 or higher
• Experience providing interpretation in educational settings, especially at the elementary grade level, is highly desired
• Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, support staff, and other interpreters
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and upholding ethical standards in interpretation
• Flexibility to adapt to different classroom subjects and student needs

Key Responsibilities:

• Interpret spoken language into ASL and ASL into spoken language for students, teachers, and staff during classes, meetings, and school events
• Support students’ access to the curriculum and full participation in educational activities
• Consult regularly with teachers to ensure effective communication strategies for individual students
• Maintain accurate records of services provided and participate in IEP meetings as needed
