Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English, with proven interpreting skills in educational settings
- Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in K–12 schools is highly valued
- Certification from a recognized interpreter credentialing body preferred (such as EIPA, RID, or NIC)
- Knowledge of classroom protocols and confidentiality standards
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment and handle sensitive situations with care
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide interpretation between students, staff, and peers in classroom and school-related activities
- Support students’ participation in lessons, discussions, and extracurricular events using sign language
- Foster an inclusive environment where students can fully engage with curriculum and peers
- Collaborate with educators and support teams to tailor communication strategies as needed
- Maintain accurate records and uphold professional boundaries at all times
