Desired Experience and Qualifications:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English, with proven interpreting skills in educational settings
• Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in K–12 schools is highly valued
• Certification from a recognized interpreter credentialing body preferred (such as EIPA, RID, or NIC)
• Knowledge of classroom protocols and confidentiality standards
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment and handle sensitive situations with care

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide interpretation between students, staff, and peers in classroom and school-related activities
• Support students’ participation in lessons, discussions, and extracurricular events using sign language
• Foster an inclusive environment where students can fully engage with curriculum and peers
• Collaborate with educators and support teams to tailor communication strategies as needed
• Maintain accurate records and uphold professional boundaries at all times
