Sign Language Interpreter in Elgin, SC

An exciting opportunity is now available for an experienced Sign Language Interpreter to support a middle school student in a dynamic educational environment near Elgin, SC. The position is open to interpreters with an EIPA score of 3.5 or higher, although candidates with a slightly lower score who are prepared and willing to retest are also encouraged to apply. Qualifications:

• 3.5 EIPA or higher (candidates with a lower score may be considered if willing to retest)
• Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter
• Prior experience working in school settings preferred
• Strong proficiency with ASL and other relevant communication methods
• Reliable and collaborative, with the ability to manage responsibilities independently
• Passion for assisting middle school students in their academic success

Key Duties:

• Provide real-time interpretation for a middle school student in classroom and school activities
• Collaborate with educators and staff to ensure accommodations and effective communication
• Support student participation in both academic and social aspects of school life
• Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical standards in all interactions
• Offer feedback and suggestions to optimize communication access for the student
