Embark on a meaningful assignment supporting students through communication access and enrichment! This onsite contract opportunity, based near Elgin, SC, seeks a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to make a difference throughout the 2026-2027 school year. You'll collaborate alongside school staff and faculty to facilitate inclusive learning environments and encourage student engagement.

Ideal candidates are confident in their interpreting abilities, value professionalism, and are passionate about empowering students who are deaf or hard of hearing. You'll be instrumental in providing clear and accurate interpretation in dynamic classroom and school settings.

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with classroom interpreting experience
  • Minimum of 3.5 EIPA score, including completion of the Written portion
  • Familiarity with IEPs and education-based documentation
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Flexibility to adapt to varying student needs and schedules
  • Ability to work full time (37.5 hours/week) throughout the school year

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide interpreting services in classroom and school-based activities
  • Support students’ educational goals and promote positive interactions
  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to ensure effective communication access
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards
  • Participate in relevant school meetings, training, and professional development
  • Document interpreting assignments and student progress as needed
