Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Certification or licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter (SLI), or actively pursuing certification
• Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and knowledgeable about Deaf culture
• Prior experience in school or educational settings preferred, but not required
• Strong interpersonal, listening, and communication skills
• Professionalism, reliability, and a collaborative spirit
• Ability to adapt to diverse student needs and classroom environments

Key Responsibilities:

• Interpret spoken language into ASL and vice versa for students, teachers, and staff
• Facilitate communication during classroom instruction, assignments, assemblies, meetings, and extracurricular activities
• Collaborate with educators and special education teams to support student IEPs and accommodations
• Maintain strict confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in all scenarios
• Assist with gathering more details about interpreting needs and expectations for the assignment
