Key qualifications and experience desired:

  • Valid Colorado Department of Education Authorization for Educational Sign Language Interpreters (CDE Authorization)
  • EIPA score of 3.5 or higher—required for compliance and eligibility
  • Prior experience as a Sign Language Interpreter within school settings strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in interpreting for a diverse range of student abilities, from general education to special education environments
  • Ability to adapt quickly between multiple locations as this is an itinerant position serving several schools
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills to work alongside teachers, staff, students, and families

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Delivering high-quality sign language interpreting services in educational settings, both in general and special education classrooms
  • Facilitating clear and accurate communication between students who are deaf or hard of hearing and their peers, teachers, and support staff
  • Traveling between multiple school campuses as scheduled to support a variety of student needs
  • Upholding confidentiality and ethical standards in all interpreting assignments
  • Participating in IEP meetings and collaborating with educators to support students’ individual learning plans
