Make a daily impact as a Sign Language Interpreter supporting students across a diverse educational environment in a contract, full-time, full school year role. This onsite position involves working itinerantly at multiple school locations, providing interpretation for students ranging from those receiving general education to those with more significant special education needs.
Key Qualifications:
- Current Colorado Department of Education (CDE) Authorization as an educational Sign Language Interpreter.
- EIPA score of 3.5 or higher (required for all interpreters in this role).
- Demonstrated ability to adapt interpreting styles to fit both SPED and general education settings.
- Previous experience as a sign language interpreter within school settings preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and communicate effectively with students, educators, and school staff.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and sensitivity in all interactions.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide real-time sign language interpretation for students who are deaf or hard of hearing, facilitating communication with teachers, peers, and staff.
- Serve students in a range of educational environments—from mild to severe needs—ensuring equitable access to curriculum and activities.
- Travel between multiple school sites within the district as part of this itinerant role.
- Collaborate with educational teams to support student IEP goals and contribute to their academic success.
- Maintain accurate records in alignment with district and state requirements.
- Participate in professional development as needed to support best practices.
