We’re seeking a passionate professional to provide support in school environments for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing near Eubank, KY—serving areas such as Somerset, Danville, and Berea, all located about 60 miles south of Lexington. Out-of-state professionals are welcome, and guidance will be provided to help with relocation or licensure requirements.
Ideal candidates are either an experienced Sign Language Interpreter or a Teacher with American Sign Language skills, eager to contribute to student success and inclusion. Those holding a 4.0 EIPA score or an NIC certification and willing to obtain a Kentucky license are highly encouraged to apply.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Experience in school-based interpreting or classroom instruction roles
- 4.0 EIPA or NIC certification preferred (with willingness to secure Kentucky certification)
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Positive attitude and adaptability to changing educational needs
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Interpret spoken language into ASL for students, staff, and teachers
- Facilitate clear communication for classroom instruction and school activities
- Collaborate with educators and support staff to promote an inclusive learning environment
- Support student learning and foster self-advocacy
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the educational team
