This contract position for a Sign Language Interpreter runs from August 24, 2026, to June 15, 2027, and offers full-time hours. You'll play a key role within a team primarily composed of DHH professionals and additional classroom support, ensuring seamless communication for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. The position covers multiple sites, with exact caseloads and locations to be determined based on your preferences and skills.
You’ll work directly in school settings (no virtual interpreting), with one or two spots open. Your experience and input will help us align you with caseloads and grade levels that best match your expertise and passions.
Qualifications:
- Completion of interpreter training program
- A score above 3.5 on the IEPA assessment
- Up-to-date licensure and all necessary credentials for sign language interpreting in an academic setting
- Professional references on hand (to be provided before or during the interview process)
- Strong teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate with DHH educators and support staff
- Passion for fostering accessible, inclusive learning
Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and school events for students and staff
