Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Evergreen, AL

Make a meaningful impact supporting students as a Sign Language Interpreter for the 2023-2024 academic year. Two full-time, onsite contract openings are available to serve vibrant school communities near Evergreen, AL. Interpret in either a K-12 setting across three schools or in a K-4 environment at a single campus, fostering accessibility and engagement for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) required; RID or state certification preferred
• Previous experience in educational interpreting or working as a Teacher of American Sign Language is a plus
• Ability to interpret across diverse educational settings and interact with students, staff, and families
• Commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and cultural sensitivity
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Flexibility to adapt to varied classroom and school needs

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide interpretation services for students in K-12 or K-4, ensuring clear communication in classroom and school-wide activities
• Support direct instruction, facilitating understanding between students, teachers, and peers
• Collaborate with school staff, special education teams, and families to promote inclusive learning environments
• Prepare for daily assignments by reviewing schedules and lesson materials
• Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with school requirements
• Support student participation in both academic and extracurricular activities
