Step into a rewarding role supporting students as a Sign Language Interpreter for the upcoming school year. This full-time contract position offers an opportunity to make an immediate impact while working within a supportive educational environment near Fayetteville, NC. You’ll provide essential interpreting services, facilitating communication and learning for students who are Deaf or hard of hearing. This is an onsite-only role serving a dedicated caseload starting August 10, 2026, and concluding on May 27, 2027, with weekly hours totaling 37.5.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Hold active licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter in the state of North Carolina
- Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and relevant interpreting techniques
- Previous experience within an educational setting is highly preferred
- Commitment to professionalism, confidentiality, and fostering inclusive learning environments
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing classroom dynamics and teacher needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and activities to ensure full access for students
- Collaborate with teachers and student support staff to facilitate participation in all aspects of the school day
- Assist in developing effective communication strategies to bridge gaps between students, peers, and educators
- Maintain accurate records of services provided and student progress
- Participate in team meetings and IEP (Individualized Education Program) reviews as needed
