Key Qualifications:

  • Valid license to practice as a Sign Language Interpreter in North Carolina
  • Experience interpreting in K-12 educational settings preferred
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity with various communication modes
  • Professionalism, reliability, and strong interpersonal skills
  • Fully available for onsite work—remote options are not offered
  • Ability to work the full contract from August 10, 2026, to May 27, 2027

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct sign language interpretation services for a designated student
  • Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and peers in classrooms and school activities
  • Accurately convey spoken language into ASL and interpret ASL into spoken English
  • Collaborate with classroom staff to adapt materials and support learning needs
  • Maintain ethical and confidential standards per industry best practices
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to individualized student planning
