Responsibilities:

  • Deliver clear and accurate American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation services for a high school student in classroom and school activities.
  • Facilitate both peer and teacher communication to ensure equitable access to all instructional content.
  • Support the student's participation in academic coursework, helping translate course material and instructions as needed.
  • Collaborate closely with educators and staff to maintain a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Adapt interpretations to various classroom subjects and settings, meeting the unique needs of the assigned student.
  • Uphold confidentiality and professionalism throughout all interactions and documentation.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Registration under the SLI and Transliteration Registration Act is mandatory.
  • Demonstrated fluency in American Sign Language.
  • Prior experience or strong understanding of supporting students who are Deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Ability to comprehend and implement oral and written instructions.
  • Excellent communication skills—both verbal and written—as well as the capacity to work well in a team.
