Role Highlights:
- Deliver clear American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation during core academic classes, activities, and school events
- Facilitate ongoing classroom communication between the student, peers, and staff
- Support the student’s comprehension of core curriculum and assignments to promote academic achievement
- Ensure students who are DHH have meaningful and equitable participation in all aspects of their education
- Assist educators in adapting materials and communication as needed for full student inclusion
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all settings
Desired Skills & Qualifications:
- Current registration under the Sign Language Interpreter and Transliteration Registration Act
- Certification and licensing relevant to sign language interpretation
- Advanced fluency in American Sign Language
- Understanding of the educational and communication needs of Deaf and hard of hearing students
- Exceptional oral and written communication abilities
- Ability to follow both oral and written instructions accurately and promptly
- Previous experience in a school or educational setting preferred, but not required
