Qualifications & Skills:

  • EIPA score of 4.0 or higher, or fluent American Sign Language (ASL) proficiency as a paraprofessional
  • Previous experience working with children, preferably in an educational setting
  • Strong understanding of Deaf culture and best practices for supporting Deaf or Hard of Hearing students
  • Ability to adapt interpreting style for age-appropriate communication
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to collaborate positively with educational staff and families

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one interpreting support for a fourth-grade student within a general education classroom setting
  • Facilitate clear and accurate communication between the student, peers, and staff
  • Assist the student’s engagement in classroom activities, group work, and social interactions
  • Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries at all times
  • Collaborate with teachers and support staff to ensure accurate delivery of curriculum content
  • Uphold ethical standards for sign language interpreters in educational environments

Details:

  • Contract position, 30 hours per week
  • School schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:50 am to 2:15 pm
