Qualifications & Skills:
- EIPA score of 4.0 or higher, or fluent American Sign Language (ASL) proficiency as a paraprofessional
- Previous experience working with children, preferably in an educational setting
- Strong understanding of Deaf culture and best practices for supporting Deaf or Hard of Hearing students
- Ability to adapt interpreting style for age-appropriate communication
- Reliable, punctual, and able to collaborate positively with educational staff and families
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one interpreting support for a fourth-grade student within a general education classroom setting
- Facilitate clear and accurate communication between the student, peers, and staff
- Assist the student’s engagement in classroom activities, group work, and social interactions
- Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries at all times
- Collaborate with teachers and support staff to ensure accurate delivery of curriculum content
- Uphold ethical standards for sign language interpreters in educational environments
Details:
- Contract position, 30 hours per week
- School schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:50 am to 2:15 pm
