Step into a fulfilling role supporting student communication and access as an onsite Sign Language Interpreter in a vibrant school setting. Two full-time interpreters are needed for an academic-year contract beginning August 3, 2026, and continuing through May 21, 2027, with possible planning days before or after the primary dates. Part-time hours may be considered based on scheduling and availability.

As a crucial point of support for students, you’ll work closely with staff to ensure seamless interpreting services tailored to age group preferences and experience—assigned after a collaborative interview process. The position is located in Columbus, GA, near Fort Benning, and offers the chance to make a meaningful impact across various school settings.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Active Georgia Educator Certification for Sign Language Interpreters with an EIPA score of 3.5 or higher.
  • Candidates with close EIPA scores and a commitment to retake the exam are also encouraged to apply; support for SLI tech to full SLI transition is available.
  • Previous experience working as an interpreter in K-12 settings is highly valued.
  • Comfort with documenting daily services through logs as part of your regular routine.
  • Flexibility in caseload and willingness to discuss placement according to your strengths and preferences.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate communication for students and staff using American Sign Language.
  • Adapt to caseload assignments after discussing your preferred age groups or experience.
  • Maintain accurate and timely daily logs of interpreting sessions in compliance with school requirements.
  • Collaborate with school personnel to foster an inclusive learning environment.
