Key Qualifications:

  • Holds current licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter in North Carolina
  • Extensive training and experience in educational interpreting settings
  • Mastery of American Sign Language (ASL) and knowledge of Deaf culture
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills to engage with students, staff, and families
  • Commitment to ethical interpreting standards and student confidentiality
  • Full-time, onsite availability for the duration of the school year (remote work not available)

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide clear, accurate interpretation for students and staff in classroom and extracurricular activities
  • Facilitate expressive and receptive communication between Deaf/hard-of-hearing students and their peers, teachers, and school personnel
  • Collaborate with teachers and support teams to ensure seamless integration of interpreting services within the learning environment
  • Maintain records and adhere to school and state regulations concerning confidentiality and student support
  • Support the academic and social inclusion of all students throughout the school day
