A school district in Fort Lupton, CO is seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support middle school students for a full semester contract. This role is ideal for an experienced professional passionate about fostering inclusive education by facilitating communication access for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.
Responsibilities:
- Provide clear and accurate interpretation services between American Sign Language (ASL) and spoken English during classroom instruction, school events, and individual consultations.
- Collaborate closely with teachers, counselors, and support staff to ensure students fully participate in the educational experience.
- Assist in promoting an inclusive learning environment sensitive to the needs of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.
- Prepare and maintain documentation relevant to interpreting assignments and student communication requirements.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with all educational policies and ethical standards.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) demonstrated by prior interpreting experience in educational settings.
- Familiarity with middle school curriculum and the unique needs of adolescent learners who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.
- Relevant certification or credentials as a Sign Language Interpreter preferred.
