Sign Language Interpreter (ASL) | Fort Smith, Arkansas

We are seeking an enthusiastic, skilled professional for a full-time contract position, working one-on-one with a middle school student to ensure seamless access to classroom instruction and activities.

In this position, you’ll play a vital role in facilitating communication between the student and their teachers, peers, and the school community. Your proficiency and commitment will help empower this student to thrive academically and socially, making a lasting difference throughout the school year.

Key Qualifications:

• State certification as a Sign Language Interpreter
• Valid Interpreter License in ASL; additional Spanish fluency strongly preferred (MSL is a plus)
• Experience supporting students in school settings
• Ability to commit to a full school day, onsite
• Strong interpersonal skills and professionalism in educational environments
• Capacity to adapt interpreting style to various learning and classroom scenarios

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide direct interpreting services for a middle school student throughout the school day (approx. 37.5 hours/week)
• Support participation in academic lessons, group activities, and individual assignments
• Foster an inclusive, supportive atmosphere by conveying spoken and signed communication effectively
• Collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to meet the student’s evolving needs

This contract runs from ASAP through late May and offers the opportunity to work closely with a dedicated educational team. Your role is integral to the student’s daily experience and growth.
