Desired Qualifications:

  • Certification or licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter (state and/or national credentials)
  • Experience in educational settings, preferably K-12 schools
  • Strong ASL proficiency and knowledge of interpreting techniques
  • Commitment to confidentiality and ethical interpretation practices
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret classroom instruction, school events, and meetings for deaf and hard-of-hearing students
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and other support staff
  • Adapt interpreting style and delivery to fit student needs and educational settings
  • Assist in the creation and implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) when appropriate
  • Ensure accurate and impartial interpretation at all times
