Travel ASL Interpreter | Frederick, Maryland

A dynamic opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to provide vital communication support within educational settings. This role involves traveling to various schools in the Frederick, MD area to facilitate effective communication between hearing-impaired students and their peers, educators, and staff, ensuring an inclusive learning environment.

Responsibilities include:

• Interpreting spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa during classroom instruction, meetings, and school events
• Assisting students in accessing curriculum and participating fully in academic and social activities
• Collaborating with teachers, support staff, and families to meet the individual communication needs of students
• Maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions
• Traveling to assigned schools within the designated area to provide consistent interpretation services

Qualifications:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with demonstrated interpreting experience in educational settings
• Certification from a recognized interpreting organization is preferred
• Excellent communication skills and cultural competency to support diverse student populations
• Ability to work independently and manage travel logistics effectively
