Support students in Northern Virginia as an on-call American Sign Language Interpreter. This part-time, contract opportunity is ideal for dedicated and flexible professionals eager to step in and provide essential interpreting services in a dynamic school setting. As the district works to build a pool of qualified ASL interpreters, your role will be essential to meeting developing needs, with assignments and weekly hours varying based on demand.

Requirements and Experience:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Ability to interpret in educational settings for a range of age groups
• VQAS Level III or a 3.5 EIPA score (pending final district requirements)
• Preparedness to begin credentialing processes promptly, including the VA Dept. of Social Services check and a VA TB Test
• Experience supporting deaf or hard-of-hearing students in K-12 settings is a plus
• Flexibility and adaptability for on-call assignment changes

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide accurate ASL interpretation between students, staff, and other stakeholders within various schools
• Adjust to changing assignments and caseloads depending on real-time needs
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism across all interactions
