The position begins as soon as possible and extends through May 27th, 2027, allowing you to make a long-term difference in the lives of students who are Deaf or hard of hearing.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Georgia Department of Education SLI License (strict requirement; waivers are not available)
- Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Past experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in a school-based setting is highly valued
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate professionally with students, educators, and support staff
- Commitment to the confidentiality and the specific needs of each student
- Adaptability to work both in a dedicated 1:1 setting and as a floating interpreter
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct interpretation services for an assigned student within the classroom and school environment
- Support classroom instruction and communication between students, faculty, and other stakeholders
- Float between assignments as needed, ensuring coverage and support throughout the school community
- Foster an accessible, empowering atmosphere that supports student success
- Maintain detailed records in accordance with school and district guidelines
