Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Galt, CA

Qualifications & Experience:

• Current EIPA score of 4.0 or higher—the required credential for this role.
• Proven proficiency as a Sign Language Interpreter, ideally in educational settings.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with students, teachers, and staff.
• Adaptability and professionalism in a dynamic school environment.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and support students’ academic and social growth.

Responsibilities:

• Provide accurate sign language interpretation for students who are deaf or hard of hearing during classroom instruction, activities, events, and meetings.
• Work closely with classroom teachers to support student learning and ensure lesson content is fully accessible.
• Adjust interpreting methods to best support individual students’ needs and preferred sign language modes.
• Facilitate clear communication between students, staff, and peers.
• Assist with the preparation of materials and resources to enhance the learning experience for students using sign language.
• Maintain open, respectful communication with educators and families regarding students’ progress and needs.
