Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Garrett, IN

Step into a specialized educational support role, providing 1:1 interpreting services for a PreK student in a vibrant school environment. This contract opportunity spans from ASAP through May 25, 2027, offering a consistent 30-hour workweek. The focus is on ensuring clear and equitable communication, bridging the gap between the student, educators, and the wider school community.

Key Qualifications:

• Valid Sign Language Interpreter certification/credentials, with an EIPA score of 3.5 or above
• Previous experience in a school setting or working with children is highly desirable
• Strong command of expressive and receptive sign language skills
• Ability to collaborate as part of an educational team
• Excellent interpersonal abilities for effective communication with students, staff, and families
• Commitment to confidentiality and professionalism in a school setting

Core Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct sign language interpretation for a Deaf or Hard of Hearing PreK student
• Facilitate communication during classroom lessons, school events, meetings, and daily interactions
• Support the student in understanding and accessing the educational curriculum
• Interpret for both academic and social activities, ensuring full participation within the classroom
• Work closely with teachers and special education staff, adhering to IEP accommodations and school protocols
• Maintain accurate and confidential records as required
