What we’re looking for:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity with interpreting in educational environments
• Valid national or state interpreter certification (such as RID, EIPA, or equivalent)
• Previous experience providing sign language interpretation in schools is highly preferred
• Ability to collaborate with teachers, staff, and educational teams to meet individual student needs
• Strong communication skills, professionalism, and cultural sensitivity
• Commitment to student confidentiality and FERPA guidelines

Key responsibilities:

• Interpret classroom lessons, discussions, and activities for students requiring ASL support
• Ensure accurate and impartial communication between students, teachers, and peers
• Adapt interpretation styles for various academic subjects and student personalities
• Support participation during assemblies, extracurricular activities, parent-teacher conferences, and other school events
• Assist educational staff in understanding best practices for working with deaf or hard of hearing students
• Maintain documentation in alignment with school and program requirements
