Key Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and experience interpreting in educational settings
- Hold relevant interpreting certifications or credentials, or demonstrate commensurate experience
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with students, educators, and families
- Flexible and adaptable to meet varying student needs and situations
- Familiarity with confidentiality standards and ethical guidelines in special education
Your Responsibilities:
- Provide clear and accurate sign language interpretation for students and staff during classes and school activities
- Facilitate communication between Deaf or Hard of Hearing students and their peers or educators
- Support staff by attending Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings or parent-teacher conferences as needed
- Adapt interpreting style to diverse classroom environments and student ages
