Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Certification as an Educational Interpreter (such as EIPA, RID, or NIC preferred)
  • Fluency in American Sign Language and familiarity with a variety of signing systems
  • Experience interpreting in K-12 educational settings strongly preferred
  • Ability to accurately convert spoken language to sign language and vice versa
  • Strong ethical standards, dependability, and confidentiality

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality interpretation for deaf and hard-of-hearing students in classroom and campus settings
  • Facilitate communication between students, teachers, staff, and others
  • Prepare for lessons by reviewing class materials in advance
  • Contribute to Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings if requested
  • Support access to extracurricular activities, assemblies, and events
