As a Sign Language Interpreter in a school setting, you’ll be working 7 hours each day alongside passionate educators and administrators. Qualifications and Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) required
- Experience as a school-based or educational sign language interpreter preferred
- Ability to support both group and one-on-one settings
- Strong interpersonal skills and professionalism
- Commitment to confidentiality and ethical standards
- RID (Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf) certification or equivalent preferred
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom lessons, discussions, and activities between students, teachers, and staff
- Facilitate communication during meetings, assemblies, and extracurricular events
- Adapt signing to match the communication needs and preferences of individual students
