Requirements and Preferred Experience:

  • Valid certification as a Sign Language Interpreter
  • Minimum of 3.5 on the EIPA assessment
  • Previous experience supporting students in educational settings is highly valued
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality within a school environment
  • Flexibility to adapt to student and classroom needs
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret spoken language into sign language and vice versa during classroom lessons and school activities
  • Build a supportive, trusting rapport with the assigned high school student
  • Collaborate effectively with teachers and staff to tailor communication strategies
  • Assist in facilitating access to classroom instruction, discussions, and assignments
  • Maintain accurate records of services provided
  • Uphold ethical standards as outlined in professional guidelines
