Educational Interpreter - Granite Bay, California

Qualifications:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
• EIPA score of 4.0 or higher, or demonstrated fluency as an ASL paraprofessional
• Prior experience interpreting in educational settings or working with school-aged children preferred
• Ability to build rapport and communicate effectively with students, teachers, and staff
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism at all times
• Strong organizational skills and punctuality

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 interpretation services for a fourth-grade student in a mainstream classroom environment (7:50 am – 2:15 pm)
• Accurately interpret classroom instruction, peer interactions, and school events for the student
• Support classroom participation and facilitate social engagement
• Collaborate with teachers and school personnel to ensure effective communication strategies
• Maintain clear records related to interpreting services and student progress
• Adapt techniques and approaches as needed to best serve the student’s needs
