Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Gray, Louisiana

New opportunity available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to work onsite in a supportive school environment for the 2026-2027 academic year. This contract position focuses on providing dedicated, 1:1 support for a kindergarten student who is making wonderful progress with sign language and will benefit from foundational guidance. Collaboration is encouraged, as the classroom teacher is already fluent in sign, fostering a highly communicative atmosphere.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and experience interpreting within educational settings
• Prior work with young children, especially those new to sign language, is highly valued
• National or state interpreter certification preferred
• Comfort working closely with students and classroom teachers in a collaborative, inclusive environment
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver clear and accurate sign language interpretation for a kindergarten student throughout the school day
• Support the student in understanding classroom content, activities, and peer interactions
• Partner with a fluent classroom teacher and educational team to foster language development
