Sign Language Interpreter in Grayslake, IL

Two contract opportunities are available, each playing a vital role supporting academic access for deaf and hard-of-hearing students in local schools. You'll collaborate closely with dedicated education teams and help ensure every student receives the communication support they need for a successful learning experience.

Key Qualifications:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and skilled interpretation in educational settings
• Required certifications: EIPA score of 3.5+ with ISBE Approval, or EIPA 3.0–3.4 with ISBE Interim Approval; BEI, ISAS, CI/CT, or NIC credentials (with ISBE Approval) are also accepted
• Commitment to professionalism, confidentiality, and inclusivity
• Adaptability to onsite-only roles at assigned campuses

Role Details:

• First Position: John Powers Center, Monday–Friday, 9:00am–3:00pm, through May 28, 2027
• Second Position: Grayslake North High School, Monday–Friday, 8:00am–12:00pm, through May 20, 2027
• Immediate start dates available to support the upcoming academic years
• All interpretation provided onsite, collaborating directly with school staff, students, and families

Responsibilities:

• Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, activities, and extracurricular events
• Foster understanding and inclusion for deaf and hard-of-hearing students
• Adjust communication styles to meet individual student needs
• Serve as a valued member of each school's support network
