Make a meaningful impact by supporting the educational journey of a student as a Sign Language Interpreter. This contract opportunity involves working closely with one student, ensuring accessible communication and fostering an inclusive learning environment. The position is set for the 2026-2027 school year and offers a consistent full-time schedule of 37.5 hours per week.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Valid state or national certification for educational interpreting (such as EIPA or RID)
  • Experience working as a sign language interpreter, preferably in a school or educational setting
  • Ability to accurately interpret spoken language into sign, and vice versa, adapting to a student’s individual communication needs
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with teachers, staff, and families
  • Understanding of confidentiality, ethics, and professionalism in a school environment

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one sign language interpretation for a student during classroom instruction and school activities
  • Facilitate clear and effective communication between the student, peers, and school personnel
  • Support the student’s participation in academic and extracurricular activities
  • Adapt interpretation techniques as required by classroom content and student needs
  • Work collaboratively with educational staff to support the student's IEP goals and progress
  • Maintain accurate records and participate in meetings regarding the student’s educational plan as needed
