Seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support a single student in a vibrant school setting near Greenwood, IN. This contract opportunity spans the entire 2026-2027 academic year, offering consistent full-time hours (37.5 each week). As a key resource on campus, you’ll play an integral role in making education accessible and meaningful for your student, collaborating with staff and ensuring a supportive learning environment.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Hold valid SLI certification or equivalent credential for educational interpreting
  • Strong proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Experience working in K-12 settings, especially 1:1 with students
  • Familiarity with IEPs and individualized student support planning
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and families
  • Professional, dependable, and responsive communication style

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct, accurate ASL interpretation for one student in classroom and school activities
  • Adapt communication methods to match student’s unique needs and learning style
  • Facilitate participation in classroom lessons, group work, assemblies, and extracurriculars
  • Maintain confidentiality and adherence to all school policies
  • Assist educators in implementing accommodations and ensuring academic access
  • Deliver feedback and progress notes as required by the educational team
  • Attend meetings or professional development relating to the student’s support as needed
