Make a difference in the classroom by supporting an incoming middle school transfer student as a dedicated Sign Language Interpreter in a thriving educational setting. This full-time, contract-based opportunity will have you working closely within the general education environment, helping ensure academic and social access for a student who is deaf or hard of hearing. The assignment is anticipated to run through the end of May 2027, with the exact campus to be finalized.

Key Qualifications:

  • EIPA score of 3.5 or above (required by state guidelines)
  • Successful completion of the written EIPA exam
  • High school diploma or GED (minimum educational requirement)
  • Ability to pass a comprehensive background check
  • Willingness to sign and uphold the SLI Code of Ethics during onboarding

Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 interpreting services for a middle schooler throughout the school day, facilitating clear communication between the student, peers, and staff
  • Accompany and support the student in general education classes; interpret for IEP-driven sessions with the DHH Teacher (with the exception of a daily 70-minute period)
  • Adapt communication methods to fit classroom content and student needs, fostering an environment that encourages participation
  • Help teachers and staff ensure the student’s access to curriculum and school activities
  • Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and a supportive presence within the school community

This position offers an engaging, consistent schedule tailored to school hours (either 8:15 am–3:30 pm or 8:00 am–3:45 pm, depending on school placement), spanning 37.5 hours per week.
