A full-time Sign Language Interpreter position is available to support K-12 students in a school setting located in Gridley, CA. This contract opportunity extends through May 28, 2026, providing approximately 30 hours per week (6 hours per day) of onsite work focused on facilitating communication and educational access for deaf and hard of hearing students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate communication between students who are deaf or hard of hearing, their hearing peers, teachers, and school personnel
  • Provide sign-to-voice and voice-to-sign interpreting services within classroom and community environments
  • Support students in academic subjects including reading, writing, and math
  • Assist in vocational and living skills development as needed
  • Monitor students during classroom, outdoor, and community activities
  • Work primarily in elementary and intermediate school settings, with placement preferences taken into account

Desired Qualifications:

  • Certification by the National Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf or a minimum score of 4.0 on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA), the ESSE-I/R, or NAD/ACCI assessments
  • Candidates with EIPA scores under 4.0 may be considered and referred as ASL Paraeducators
  • Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and willingness to work as an ASL Para is welcomed
  • An Associate’s Degree or higher in a relevant field is preferred
