Empower students and make a difference as a Sign Language Interpreter within a supportive school environment! Experienced professionals, as well as those working toward higher EIPA scores, are welcome to apply for this full-time, onsite contract role. Play a vital part in fostering communication and access for hard of hearing and deaf students across elementary and intermediate grades.
Key Qualifications:
- Certification by the National Registry of Interpreters of the Deaf OR a score of 4.0 or above on EIPA, ESSE-I/R, or NAD/ACCI assessments
- Candidates with EIPA below 4.0 are highly encouraged to apply (will be considered for an ASL Paraeducator position)
- Strong proficiency in American Sign Language and ability to provide accurate sign-to-voice and voice-to-sign interpretation
- Previous experience working in K-12 educational settings is a plus
- Flexibility to work onsite for approximately 30 hours per week (6 hours per day)
- Dedication to supporting students’ academic, vocational, and life skills
Your Responsibilities:
- Facilitate seamless communication between deaf/hard of hearing students, their peers, teachers, and school personnel
- Interpret classroom instruction and school activities in real-time
- Assist students with academic work, including reading, writing, and math
- Support students during classroom, outdoor, and community activities
- Collaborate with teaching staff to create an inclusive and accessible learning environment
- Work at either the elementary or intermediate level based on your preference
