Qualifications & Preferred Experience:

• Proficiency as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational settings
• Valid VQAS Level 2 or higher credential, unless EIPA score is 3.5 or above
• Expertise in American Sign Language and familiarity with teaching or interpreting for school-age children
• Strong collaboration and communication skills with students, teachers, and parents
• Commitment to ethical standards and confidentiality in all interactions

Responsibilities:

• Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language for classroom instruction, assemblies, and school events
• Facilitate clear, accurate communication between deaf/hard-of-hearing students and staff
• Support teaching staff by providing feedback on accessibility and modifying instructional materials as needed
• Encourage student participation, learning, and confidence while respecting diverse needs
• Coordinate with educational teams to develop and implement individualized communication strategies
