Make a difference every day by supporting a 5th grade student as an Onsite Sign Language Interpreter within a Life Skills classroom. This contract opportunity is based near Hanover, PA, and involves a dedicated 1:1 assignment for the 2026–2027 school year. Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Fluency in American Sign Language
- Valid and current EIPA score of 3.5 or higher (as required)
- Experience working in educational settings, ideally with elementary-age students
- Previous experience supporting students with diverse needs is highly valued
- Professionalism, reliability, and a commitment to fostering inclusive learning
- Ability to work onsite Monday through Friday, from 7:20am to 2:10pm for 35 hours per week
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Provide direct in-classroom ASL interpretation for one student within a Life Skills setting
- Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, special education staff, and service providers to support individualized learning
- Facilitate accessible communication between the student, peers, and school personnel
- Adapt signing techniques to meet the student’s unique needs and evolving skills
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all classroom and district policies
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to student-centered planning as needed
