Sign Language Interpreter (ASL) | Harvard, Illinois

Make a meaningful impact supporting high school students as a Sign Language Interpreter in engaging school settings. Two part-time contract positions are available, each offering a rewarding opportunity to facilitate communication and learning for students who are Deaf or hard of hearing.

Role One is located near Burlington and spans daily from 12:30 PM to 3:00 PM (part-time, .35 FTE), working one-on-one with a high school student from now through late May 2027.
Role Two is in the Harvard area, covering 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM each school day (.5 FTE), providing sign language interpretation within mainstream high school classes through the end of May 2027.

Qualifications:

• Minimum EIPA score of 3.5 and valid ISBE certification, or at least a 3.0 EIPA with IBSE approval
• Experience interpreting in educational (especially secondary school) environments preferred
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and a strong grasp of Deaf culture
• Ability to maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and clear communication with students and staff
• Flexibility and reliability to meet the needs of a dynamic school schedule

• Support student participation and engagement in both academic and extracurricular settings
