Step into an impactful role supporting an elementary student as a dedicated Sign Language Interpreter. This on-site contract position is located near Harvest, AL, and focuses on providing one-on-one interpreting services within a school environment. Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (SLI)
  • Experience, or strong interest, in working with elementary-aged children in an academic setting
  • Ability to facilitate clear communication between students, staff, and peers
  • Understanding of confidentiality and ethical standards related to interpreting in schools
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet varying student and classroom needs

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver one-on-one sign language interpreting services to assigned student throughout the school day
  • Accurately translate classroom instruction, discussions, and all relevant school activities
  • Collaborate with teachers and school staff to support instructional goals
  • Assist with social interactions, conferences, and extracurricular activities requiring interpretation
  • Maintain professional relationships, respecting privacy and confidentiality at all times
