Key Qualifications:
- National certification or equivalent credential as a Sign Language Interpreter
- Demonstrated fluency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Experience working within school settings or with children/adolescents preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, and a collaborative attitude
- Ability to accurately interpret spoken language into ASL (and vice versa) in educational contexts
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver in-person interpreting services for students, staff, and school-related activities
- Facilitate clear communication between students and teachers, staff, and peers in classroom and extracurricular settings
- Adapt interpreting approaches to meet individual student needs and classroom environments
- Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards at all times
- Collaborate proactively with education teams and families to support students’ academic and social participation
- Assist with documentation and communication as needed by the school
