Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver IEP-directed educational services tailored to hearing impaired students, supporting both resource-level needs and integration within general education settings.
  • Coordinate with classroom teachers and school staff, offering consultations and preparing materials to ensure each student’s learning potential is maximized.
  • Facilitate the use of appropriate auditory equipment and materials, requesting and troubleshooting devices such as hearing aids, cochlear implants, and assistive technology as needed.
  • Offer ongoing training and support to school personnel, fostering a welcoming and positive environment for hearing impaired learners.
  • Maintain detailed records, including IEPs, progress updates, quarterly reports, and communication with families.
  • Contribute as an active member of the student support team, performing additional duties as assigned by the Coordinator of Speech, Hearing, and Autism.

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and Louisiana teacher’s certification in Hearing Impaired required.
  • At least three years of experience teaching hearing impaired students within regular education settings.
  • Fundamental proficiency in sign language and strong computer skills for managing data and reports.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with diverse individuals to achieve student success.
  • High professionalism and exceptional organizational skills with sound judgment.
  • Ability to complete required fingerprinting and drug screening prior to assignment.
