Make a meaningful impact supporting students through your expertise as a Sign Language Interpreter. This full-time, contract position begins as soon as possible and extends over a 5-week ESY (Extended School Year) program, with the opportunity to continue into the upcoming academic year. In this engaging school environment near Haverhill, MA, you’ll collaborate closely with instructional staff, including a Teacher of the Deaf (TOD), and provide essential communication access for a student utilizing FM systems and cochlear implants.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and strong interpreting skills for educational settings
  • Familiarity with technology such as FM systems and experience supporting students with cochlear implants
  • Ability to work collaboratively with educators and other student support professionals
  • State or national certification in Sign Language Interpretation preferred
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive, responsive learning environment

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver in-person interpretation services during classroom instruction, activities, and related services
  • Adapt signing to match content, environment, and student needs
  • Assist the student in accessing curriculum materials and engaging with peers and staff
  • Coordinate efforts with the Teacher of the Deaf and other team members for seamless support
  • Respect confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in communications
