Desired Skills & Qualifications:

  • Valid certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (such as EIPA, RID, or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Experience interpreting for K-12 students in educational settings preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively with staff, students, and families
  • Ability to adapt interpreting style to various communication needs

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality sign language interpretation between students, staff, and families within the school setting
  • Foster access to curriculum, instruction, and school activities for deaf and hard-of-hearing students
  • Support Individualized Education Plan (IEP) goals and participate in related meetings as needed
  • Assist with classroom communication, assemblies, extracurricular activities, and special events
  • Maintain professionalism and uphold confidentiality at all times
