Preferred Qualifications:
- Valid EPIA score of 3.5 or above (required)
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Experience providing sign language interpretation in educational settings strongly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students, teachers, and staff
- Professionalism, reliability, and a commitment to confidentiality
- Flexibility to adapt to various classroom activities and student needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and activities into sign language for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Facilitate communication between students, educators, peers, and staff
- Support IEP goals by ensuring clear and accurate interpretation
- Participate in meetings, student conferences, and professional development as needed
- Maintain professionalism and discretion when handling sensitive information
- Adjust to a variety of subject matter, grade levels, and communication styles throughout the school day
