Preferred Qualifications:

  • Valid EPIA score of 3.5 or above (required)
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Experience providing sign language interpretation in educational settings strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students, teachers, and staff
  • Professionalism, reliability, and a commitment to confidentiality
  • Flexibility to adapt to various classroom activities and student needs

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and activities into sign language for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Facilitate communication between students, educators, peers, and staff
  • Support IEP goals by ensuring clear and accurate interpretation
  • Participate in meetings, student conferences, and professional development as needed
  • Maintain professionalism and discretion when handling sensitive information
  • Adjust to a variety of subject matter, grade levels, and communication styles throughout the school day
