Key Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and strong interpretation skills
  • Experience in an educational setting or with children/adolescents preferred
  • Ability to accurately interpret spoken and signed information in classroom and school-related activities
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal abilities
  • Adherence to ethical standards and confidentiality regarding student information

Responsibilities:

  • Provide interpretation services between students, teachers, and staff to ensure effective communication
  • Support deaf and hard-of-hearing students during classroom instruction, assemblies, and extracurricular events
  • Adapt interpreting style to suit various educational settings and communication needs
  • Collaborate with educators and support staff to help facilitate student inclusion and access to curriculum
  • Maintain accurate records as required and uphold all school/district policies
