A unique opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter passionate about supporting elementary-aged students in a dynamic school environment. This role involves working with young learners to ensure full access and participation in classroom experiences, fostering a culture of inclusion and communication.
This contract position offers flexibility, with the choice of full-day hours from 7:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. or afternoon-only shifts from 11:00 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. All interpreting will be performed onsite alongside a collaborative educational team committed to student success.
Key Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and interpreting in educational settings
- Experience working with elementary students preferred
- An EIPA score of 4.0 or higher is ideal; however, candidates with a PROVISIONAL license will be considered if EIPA is below 4.0
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to adapt to diverse learning and communication styles
- Commitment to confidentiality and professionalism
Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom instruction, lectures, and discussions for D/deaf and hard-of-hearing students
- Facilitate communication between teachers, staff, students, and families
- Collaborate with educators to adapt materials and activities when appropriate
- Support students’ language development and social interactions throughout the school day
- Uphold ethical standards and confidentiality at all times
